these are new images sent to us by us airways pilots flying over the fire. you can see the plumes of smoke billowing high into the sky. it's a bird's eye view of the massive fire that's about the size of new york city. the rim fire has burned almost 200,000 acres and is just 32% contained. 5500 structures are still threatened. good news is evacuation order tuolumne city have been lifted. almost 5,000 firefighters are on the ground. it has already destroyed 111 buildings and that includes 11 homes. >> so much of the smoke we've been talking about has headed to lake tahoe. >> and reno. >> a lot of people headed there as well this weekend, labor day. want to check the forecast now with meteorologist rob mayeda in for christina. >> we're watching the conditions around the rim fire. temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, and the smoke as those pictures display quite well, moving out of the south to the north which unfortunately has brought up an air quality alert for particulate matter pollution around the lake tahoe basin. unhealthy air quality levels weekend. ov
